Abstract

Multimodal reading is a linguistic competence of great importance for the formation of a critical and interactive student. Therefore, it is necessary to encourage and teach it in the classroom. Thus, this research aims to carry out a historical contextualization about reading and, then, to present how the reading of multimodal texts is an important tool in the teaching-learning process of students and teachers, since through this ability it is possible to carry out a teaching based on the pedagogy of multiliteracies, bringing the reality of the external area of ​​the classroom into it. To do so, this study will adopt a bibliographic methodology. It is concluded that studies that involve teacher training, combining theories and practices and their results in the training of proficient readers, are crucial for the review of curricula of licensure courses and others aimed at teacher training.
