Abstract

The design and performance of a double-scattering apparatus with a large solid angle acceptance for polarization experiments is described. It allows, by magnetic focusing of a scattered beam to a small spot of a few mm in diameter, the use of highly efficient polarimeters for protons and deuterons in the energy range between 2.5 and 30 MeV. The maximum solid angle is 20 msr. The scattering angle can be varied between −20° and 150°.
