Abstract
This study examines conversations that take place while children and their caretakers are engaged with a variety of enrichment materials in day care centers. The study aims to critically evaluate the enrichment package, with a view to the development of more effective materials in the future. The results indicate that this language‐based assessment proved particularly useful, in pointing out both the particular strengths and weaknesses of design in materials.
