Abstract

This paper considers the kinetic theory approach to model the behavior of pedestrian social groups in bounded domain. A social group is defined as individuals who have social ties and intentionally walk together, like friends or family. The heterogeneity of groups behaviors is introduced into the model by an activity variable. A probabilistic interpretation of the proposed model is given to apply Monte Carlo particle method. Numerical simulations are developed to provide a pictorial description of social groups dynamics, namely, the perform a specific task and the tendency to keep the same activity.
