Abstract

There are no social conditions without power. Every relationship is also a relationship of power—this might be evident to those active in social work. Heinrich Popitz’ theory of power and violence however, lines out the impact of those statements in detail. Popitz shows how power can be reached and stabilized, how it can be weakend and lost again. Furthermore he explains in which way power, violence and authority are connected. The following introductory comment strives to explore the book’s main topics.
