Abstract

Introduction: pregnancy is an important period in the development of fetuses, it is necessary to always pay attention to any problems that the female or the fetuses may develop, for this it is recommended to carry out gestational monitoring through ultrasound and x-ray examinations. Methodology; This is an integrative literature review conducted by the databases: Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature and Brazilian Journals in Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science Database (VETINDEX), Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Sciences for health (LILACS), VETTESES and VETINDEX-Express in publications from 2012 to 2022. Objective: To analyze the importance of prenatal care in dogs using ultrasound technology. Results: The benefits of gestational ultrasound aim to estimate gestational age, analyze the development of fetal organs, fetal sexing, evaluate signs of fetal distress and estimate the patient's referral to a cesarean section. Conclusion: Monitoring with gestational ultrasound presents high reliability in gestational monitoring, in prenatal care it is an important diagnostic tool for owners, breeders and veterinarians
