Abstract

The paper proposes to consider how  something of the order of the Real is registered in the female body in the contemporary capitalist society. For this we will discuss about the categories  “female body” and “Real” in the light of psychoanalytic theory to finally present how they are articulated in the current social context,  more specifically in  consumer capitalism. We will discuss how the woman has  joined to the ideology of the  perfect body in an attempt of avoiding to come across his lack. At this time we will highlight the submission to the cosmetic surgeries in the present: those that, paradoxically, are a possibility of pleasure (jouissance) and throw the woman to her  non-whole condition as well as to the encounter with the Real. The article shows how in the the female body there is a mark denouncing something that fails in the capitalist society, which in turn, through the ideology of  full pleasure (jouissance), search for moving away, in this case, the woman of her desire.
