Abstract
A new metabolite has been isolated from the brown alga Cystoseira elegans and characterized as (2 E, 6 E,14 E)-1-(1′-hydroxy-4′-methoxy-6′-methylphenyl)-5,12-dihydroxy-13-one-3,7,11,15-tetramethyl hexadeca-2,6,14-triene by spectral analysis and chemical degradation.
