Abstract

This paper introduces a solution method based on the theory of fuzzy sets and goal programming (GP) for multiple objective decision making (MODM) problems. The solution method, called hybrid fuzzy-goal programming (HFGP), combines and extends the attractive features of both fuzzy set theory and goal programming for MODM problems. HFGP approach has been introduced to determine weights and weights to the objectives under the same priorities using the concept of fuzzy membership functions along with the notion of degree of conflict among objectives. Also, HFGP converts a MODM problem into a lexicographic goal programming problem by fixing the priorities and aspiration levels appropriately. The proposed method is illustrated by solving a real-life problem.
