Abstract

The Finite Element Method (FEM) has emerged to be the standard numerical method for analysis of fields in electrical machines. The success of the method is due to its ability to handle problems with complex geometry, source distributions and material properties. For some specific field problems (e.g. open boundary problems), integral techniques as the Boundary Element Method (BEM) are more suitable.1
