Abstract

AbstractA new power/ground plane using the hybrid‐cell electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) structure is proposed for ultra‐wideband suppression of the ground bounce noise (GBN) in high‐speed digital circuit boards. The hybrid‐cell EBG structure achieves both a high series inductance and a shorter period of the EBG lattice. The −30 dB stop‐band of the proposed structure has about a 7.9‐GHz bandwidth and starts at 370 MHz where the GBN energy is dominantly distributed. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
