Abstract

Recent technologies forcing the integration of Radio Frequency (RF) circuits with high speed digital circuits in Mixed Signal Systems. Ground Bounce Noise suppression has become the major issue during the design of the mixed signal circuits. Generally Electromagnetic Band Gap (EBG) structures are used for the suppression of GBN in mixed signal systems. L-bridge EBG structure with slit is one of the best EBG to suppress GBN over UWB frequency range. However Multi slit L-bridge EBG structure can further attenuate the GBN in mixed signal systems. This paper efficiently isolates the noise in Mixed Signal Systems in an Ultra Wide Band (UWB) frequency range. A new EBG structure is realized with a combination of L-shaped Bridge and slit EBG structure with multi slit EBG structure. In this configuration the L-shaped bridge with slit remained same and an extra slit is incorporated parallel to the basic slit. This configuration provides GBN suppression covering UWB frequency range. Multi-slit L-bridge EBG (ML-EBG) structure based Power Distribution Network (PDN) provides an excellent isolation (-80 dB to -120 dB) in UWB frequency range. The ability of ML-EBG structure to isolate GBN has been quantified in this paper.
