Abstract

This essay proposes a retrieval of Jan van Ruusbroec's unified love concept of minne as critically responsive to the renewed, contemporary interest in thinking love anew within theological and philosophy of religion discourses. It proceeds by first briefly examining the radical French phenomenologist Jean-Luc Marion and the strengths and weaknesses of his erotic turn. Afterwards, topics of fruitful and critical development will be explored in Ruusbroec as envisaging his sustained, future engagement within such discourses.
