This patient viewpoint illustrates the difficulties experienced by women in seeking diagnosis and treatment for vulval lichen sclerosus. The author vividly describes anatomical changes, the impact on mental health and on quality of life. In addition, this viewpoint highlights the importance of patient involvement in research, education and support.
