Abstract

A home-made AMS system dedicate to 14C measurements was built and tested at China Institute of Atomic Energy (CIAE). The system is a kind of a single stage AMS system with a working voltage of 230 kV. The overall dimensions of the system are 4.6 × 2.4 m2. After the system was installed, systematic experiments have been carried out to optimize the system performance. In these test experiments, 14C measurements with precision of 0.8% and a background level of 0.6 pMC were achieved. Details of the system and the experimental performance are given.
