Abstract
Abstract In order to increase quality and productivity in our companies, thus making them more competitive, technology plays an ever increasing role. But it is also becoming increasingly obvious that technology, by itself, is not always bringing the expected efficiency improvement to keep us mostly successful. This paper questions why this is happening, and gives the author's view in how this situation could be changed, by linking the Information Technology Planning process to the Total Quality Management (TQM) process within the companies. This paper contains mostly opinions of the author, based on his consulting experience. The central point is to show that the key-factor to success is that we must bring people and processes back into the equation.
