Abstract

We have demonstrated a high pulse energy single-pass picosecond (ps) master oscillator power amplifier (MOPA) system of 1064 nm at a pulse repetition rate of 500 kHz. A 500 kHz, 32.38 μJ picosecond laser was used as the signal laser. Through a single-pass traveling-wave amplifier, a maximum output power of 35.7 W at a pump power of 100.6 W was generated with the optic-optic efficiency of 19.39%. The output pulse duration was 16.9 ps, corresponding to the pulse energy of 71.4 μJ, while simultaneously the beam quality factor M2 was measured to be 1.36 and 1.32 along the x, y axis direction, respectively.
