Abstract

A high precision direct (HPD) integration scheme is given. Non-linearly varying loadings are decomposed into Fourier components before direct integration is performed, so that accurate responses to each harmonic loading component can be obtained even for very large time-step sizes. Numerical examples include comparisons with the Newmark method and demonstrate the high precision and efficiency of this scheme.
