A high-luminosity technique for determinations of atomic and molecular lifetimes

Abstract

Numerous spectra and lifetimes in atoms and molecules such as H, He, N, Ne, O, Xe, C 2, CH, CO 2, H 2O, N 2, NH, NO, O 2 and OH have been measured by HF sweeping of energetic electrons from a high power gun and fast coincidence technique. Applications of this universal technique are discussed.
