Abstract
Pneumatic Anti-lock Brake System has been widely used in commercial vehicles such as trucks, tractor-trailers and buses today. These brake systems are equipped on the vehicle's axle, and compressed air is used as the energy transmitting medium to actuate brake actuator. Here, we present one method of evaluating and testing the ABS controller and the algorithm for full-air brake system, and a Hardware-In-Loop simulator is made in our laboratory. This testing system includes actual pneumatic brake actuator between ABS controller and vehicle dynamics model, thus simulates a real truck under braking in real time. In this paper, the method of modeling a vehicle dynamics used for simulation is introduced, and how constructing the Hardware-In-Loop testing system is described. Using this testing system, we can finish performance tests for ABS controller in a short time. And thus, we can reduce time and cost needed for developing the pneumatic ABS controller for commercial vehicles.
