Abstract After our party shifted its focus of work, theoreticians and comrades doing practical work have further emancipated their minds. They have summed up the experiences and lessons of the past three decades of economic work and, learning from foreign experience, have enthusiastically explored the way to reform China's economic management system. This has added impetus to the Four Modernizations. Comrades in Sichuan Province, led by the provincial party committee, have actively experimented with this reform, and the breakthrough point they chose was expansion of enterprise autonomy.
