Abstract

T HE GOLD CROWN with a circumferential plastic veneer is indicated in the posterior region of the mouth when strength and esthetics are desired and where the vertical dimension must be preserved. This crown is completely covered with acrylic resin except upon the occlusal surface. The occlusal surface and a thin coping are made of a hard gold and are cast in one piece. The coping forms the underlying structure of the crown and covers the entire prepared tooth. The coping should be made thin while the occlusal surface should be at least 1.0 mm. thick.
