Abstract
In a nutshell: A nanosized core/shell cluster has been synthesized by reaction of AgCCtBu with AgOTf in the presence of a polyoxometalate (POM) template under solvothermal conditions. The peanutlike structure (see picture) consists of two Mo6O228− nuts (green) and an Ag60 shell (purple). Electrochemical studies revealed that the silver shell acts like an electronic relay, while the POM cores function as a redox buffer to stabilize the cluster.
