Abstract

A geocoding method for SAR image based on Triangulated Irregular Network (TIN) lookup table is proposed in this paper. Firstly, TIN DEM is generated from Grid DEM. Then, each node in TIN DEM is geocoded by Range-Doppler model to produce a TIN lookup table. Finally, geocoded image is resampled by TIN lookup table. Experimental results show TIN lookup table can reduce file size with losing less precision, which compared with original Grid lookup table. Although TIN lookup table takes some time to create TIN DEM from Grid DEM, it takes less time than original lookup table in geocoding process. So it could save running time for large number of SAR images geocoding in the same area. TIN lookup table can balance between precision and file size, when its height tolerance approximately is less than accuracy of DEM products.
