Abstract

The organic segment offers great potential for expansion, mainly due to a greater consummers’ recognition in recent decades of its environmental, economic and food relevance. The study aimed to characterize the trade of organic products from family farming in the Federal District. This is an exploratory and descriptive research, taking as reference data from studies conducted by the National Supply Company (CONAB/MAPA), Community Supported Agriculture in Brasília (CSA Brasília) and the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Company of the Federal District (EMATER- DF). Data was collected from August to December 2021. The results indicate that the fairs are the main places for the acquisition of organic products, mainly vegetables. The number of fairs decreased 35% due to Covid-19 pandemic. At the same time, the emergence and growth of new forms of trade, such as CSAs and Delivery, the latter because of the impact of Covid-19, grew by about 40%.
