Abstract

A fuzzy adaptive multiuser detector in code-division multiple access (CDMA) communication systems is proposed. This study is motivated by the work with fuzzy adaptive equalization technique based on fuzzy IF-THEN rules. The proposed detector can be adapted via a linear adaptation algorithm under the minimum mean squared error (MMSE) criterion even when the system environment is either unknown or changing. The bit error rate of the proposed detector is compared with those of the optimum detector, the conventional detector and the multilayer perceptron detector. The simulation results show that the proposed detector is very robust against the strength of interfering signals and its performance is comparable to that of the optimum detector.
