Abstract

To improve the efficiency and scientificity of Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) analysis, in the paper, Case-Based Reasoning (CBR) and maintenance decision models are both successfully introduced into Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) analysis process, a framework for the case-based and model-based RCM analysis is presented, and the critical components of which, such as case representation, reasoning mechanism and decision models etc, are discussed in detail. The idea for the case-based and model-based RCM analysis is based on the fact that the historical records of RCM analysis on similar items can be referenced and used for the current RCM analysis of a new item, furthermore preventive maintenance intervals can be determined by the aid of maintenance decision modelling. The contents in this paper may be applied to develop the case-based and model-based RCM analysis system. Our future research interest is to develop a fully functional case-based and model-based RCM analysis system for industry departments.
