Abstract

High resolution 89 Y NMR measurements have been carried out to study the effect of Y substitution in Bi 2Sr 2Ca 1− x Y x Cu 2O y . A single resonance line was observed for samples with x≥0.5, while an additional line was observed for x<0.5, possibly arising from Y which occupies the Sr site. The resonance of the Y on the Ca site shifts diamagnetically upon increasing the carrier concentration and paramagnetically upon reducing the temperature, in close relation with the variation of T c in the system.
