Abstract

In this correspondence, we propose a new symbol-level quantized precoder design for massive multi-user multiple-input-single-output (MU-MIMO) systems employing low-resolution digital-to-analog converters (DACs) and phase-shift-keying (PSK) signaling. A new problem formulation based on the idea of safety margin fitting is proposed, from which a low-complexity precoding algorithm is derived. Both the complexity analysis and simulation results indicate that the proposed precoder has very low computational complexity while still performing favorably. Because symbol-level precoders perform precoding on a symbol-by-symbol basis, they need to be of low complexity in their real world use. Our proposed precoder therefore stands out as a strong candidate for applications among existing quantized precoders.
