Abstract

Massive MIMO relaying systems are investigated with double resolution analog to digital converter (ADC) at base station (BS) receiver. The reason is that, double resolution ADC receivers can diminish power consumption and hardware cost contrasted with low resolution ADCs. Depicting uplink spectral efficiency (SE) using the maximum ratio combining (MRC) receiver at a perfect channel state information (CSI) will be discussed. Exhibiting somewhat analysis to expose the effects of system parameters on spectral efficiency such as; the number of receive antennas, ADC quantization bits, user transmit power and the rate of high precision ADC in double resolution ADC structure will be done. Moreover, studying energy efficiency (EE) with some system parameters will be made. Finally, the simulation results will be introduced to clarify that the performance wastage owing to low precision ADCs can be recompensed by growing the number of receive antennas N , following a logarithmic scaling law instead of growing the transmit power at both of source and relay. Furthermore, double resolution ADCs can realize a superior energy rate tradeoff contrasted with low resolution ADCs.
