Abstract

A gas valve capable of injecting 1 Pa m3 of gas into a vacuum system in less than 2 ms is described. An approximate theory is developed for the performance of this type of valve. The theory shows how the injection range of the valve may be greatly extended, particularly for lower injection quantities at shorter times.
