Abstract

The induction motor with skewed rotor bars is an effective motor structure for eliminating the slot harmonic fields, and the resulting noise and vibration. 2-D multi-slice finite element method (FEM) is typically used to analyze the performance of the induction motor with skewed rotor bars. However, in order to achieve high accuracy, the number of the slices is generally very high, which is also a time-consuming work. In this paper, a fast identification method of air-gap flux density (AGFD) is proposed. In the proposed method, the AGFD calculated by the 2-D multi-slice FEM is post-processed by a skewed factor. In order to achieve a relatively high accuracy, the number of slices of the 2-D multi-slice FE models can be significantly reduced by using the proposed method. And in this paper, based on the proposed method, the influence of the skewed rotor bars on the air-gap force of a 5.5 kW motor are also studied.
