Abstract

In recent years, the superhydrophobic fabrics with specific wetting property had attracted extensive attention of the researcher and industry for their extraordinary performance. In this report, a robust superhydrophobic fabric with oil/water separation property and load carrying capacity had been successfully prepared by introducing the modified magnesium oxide (MgO) and aluminate. It has proved that the modified fabric has excellent stability through tape peeling test, folding test, washing experiment and pH test. In particular, the fabric weight of 200 g could be moved by 22 m on 600 # sandpaper without losing superhydrophobic property. Besides, the fabric can separate oil and water from different oil-water mixtures with a separation efficiency of over 90%, using superhydrophilic-superoleophobic properties. Otherwise, it is 66.8 N/m2 that loadable pressure of the fabric in water. The superhydrophobic fabric has tremendously wide applications in the field of oil-containing wastewater and diving equipment.
