Abstract

In this paper, a monolithic RF receiver, integrating a Low Noise Amplifer (LNA) and Single Pole Double Throw (SPDT) switch, in a single $0.25 \mu \mathrm{m}$ GaAs pHEMT process for Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs) 802.11ac applications is presented. To avoid saturation and overload for next-stage component, the LNA with bypass function is devised. In addition, a low Insertion Loss (IL) SPDT antenna switch is achieved to obtain low Noise Figure (NF) for the RX path and high power handling capability for the TX path. The implemented RF receiver with the die size of $1.6\times 0.8 \text{mm}^{2}$ reveals a NF of < 2dB with 11dB typical gain including the SPDT switch loss in the 5.15-5.85GHz frequency range.
