Abstract
We have built and are now evaluating a high performance workstation, called PLUS, that is seen and felt by a user exactly as a conventional workstation because it offers the same input/output functionality and it executes the same software environment (Unix/Mach and X) of a workstation but it offers more processing power. The paper describes the architecture and presents some evaluation data.
