Abstract

To enhance the adaptability of power systems towards extreme events, this paper proposes a load curtailment (LC) model for transmission and distribution systems (T&DSs). The LC model for transmission systems (TSs) is a re-dispatched unit commitment while that for distribution systems (DSs) is based on topology reconfiguration and distributed generators. However, solving the LC model for T&DS in a centralized manner may be impractical because of imperfect communication and incomplete information, which are prone to occur in extreme situations. Therefore, this paper proposes a distributed method based on Benders decomposition to coordinate the individual operators of the TS and DS, where only limited information is exchanged. Finally, the proposed model and method are verified on a modified IEEE-39 and IEEE-33 system.
