Abstract

Abstract The reaction of a paddlewheel-type diruthenium(II, II) complex, [Ru2II,II(o-MeOPhCO2)4(THF)2] ([Ru2II,II]; o-MeOPhCO2−: o-anisate), and chloranil (QCl4) leads to a charge transfer from [Ru2II,II] to QCl4, forming a dimer-of-dimers of [Ru2II,III]+ units bridged by tetrachlorohydroquinonate dianion (QCl42−): [{Ru2II,III(o-MeOPhCO2)4(THF)}2(QCl4)].
