Abstract

Electrical capacitance tomography (ECT) has been studied for more than twenty years and great progress has been made. In this paper, we presented a digital and analog mixed ECT system using combining electrode strategy. The system can be configured flexibly as typical ECT sensor mode and also the newly proposed combining electrode mode. Both the digital phase-sensitive demodulation and the typical analog multiplication demodulation were implemented in this system. Reconstructions using the experimental data of traditional 8-electrode ECT sensor, combined symmetrical 8-electrode mode and combined asymmetrical 8-electrode mode were presented respectively. The proposed ECT system can be flexibly configured as different modes and satisfy the requirement of different applications and research.
