Abstract
A non-collinear three-sublattice mean field crystal electric field (CEF) model has been introduced in order to explain the observed complex magnetic behaviour in the pseudobinary Pr x Nd 1− x Co 5. A comparison with the experimental data of the spin reorientation temperature and also with the thermal evolution of the spontaneous spin reorientation angle, have allowed a determination of a reliable set of CEF and exchange parameters for the Pr 3+ and Nd +3 ions.
