Abstract

In this paper, we propose a new design of a multi-band bowtie antenna based on omega-shaped resonator (OSR). This proposed structure, designed to operate at multi-band frequency range, consists of coplanar bowtie antenna in the top layer and an array of OSRs in the bottom layer of the structure. The antenna structure with dimensions of \(42\times {13.3}\) mm\(^2\) is printed on a FR4 epoxy dielectric and is fabricated to validate our prototype. The measured reflection coefficient of the proposed prototype shows that the antenna operates at a multi-band frequency range namely 4.06, 7.4, and 10.78 GHz with return loss equal to −14, −38, and −34 dB, respectively. These are in good agreement with the simulation. In addition, a comparison of the measured and the simulated radiation pattern is provided and discussed. They show a good consistency.
