Abstract

Abstract This paper concerns the problem of designing a stabilizing feedback controller for a quantized system. The controller has access only to quantized value [x] of the system state x and determines the quantized value [u] of the system input u.The aim is to move the quantized system state into a desired quantized state Z Aim . The main result is a sufficient condition for the qualitative stability of the closed-loop quantized system, which can be tested by means of a discrete-event representation of the quantized system. This condition is weaker than the conditions that have been derived recently and, thus, gives more freedom for choosing the qualitative controller. The second result of the paper is a procedure for finding a qualitative controller, with which the closed-loop system satisfies the new stability condition. A qualitative controller designed for a laboratory Three-tank system illustrates the main results.
