Abstract
A simple design method is presented which is capable of predicting the collapse load of plate girders to a high degree of accuracy. It can be applied to both symmetrical and asymmetrical plate girders, reinforced by both transverse and longitudinal stiffeners, when subjected to the combined action of shear and bending. Detailed comparison is presented between the predicted failure loads obtained using the proposed design method and all relevant available experimental data.(a) /TRRL/
