Abstract
We present a case of a 39-year-old female who was found to have an adnexal mass during routine obstetric review. On ultrasound there was a 9 cm cyst superior to the right ovary, which intraoperatively was localised to the caecum. On excision, a uniloculated cyst was seen deep to the muscularis propria of the caecum, adjacent to the appendix. The cyst contained soft creamy material admixed with hair. Microscopically, the cyst had a mature stratified squamous cell lining with scattered underlying pilosebaceous elements. In the absence of ovarian and lymphoid tissue, and without mesodermal or endodermal cellular components, a diagnosis of a dermoid cyst was made.
