Abstract

Modifying Hall’s idea (Ergod Theory Dyn Syst 1:261–272, 1981) we construct an example of homeomorphism of the circle which is a Denjoy counterexample (i.e. it is not conjugate to a rotation) and is a $${{\mathcal {C}}^\infty }$$ -diffeomorphism everywhere except in a flat half-critical point.
