Abstract

This report describes an innovative curriculum designed to prepare nurse practitioners (NPs) to bridge primary care access gaps in rural Alabama. The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing developed a sustainable curriculum that educates primary care NP students for leadership roles in rural communities. A description of the curriculum that has expanded knowledge and skills for 5 cohorts of primary care NP students in rural communities is provided.
