Abstract

After the defeat of the Shibak-khan Uzbek in Merv in 916 A.H., the second important event in the Transoxiana region was the Mirnajm's II Campaign that resulted in his sever defeat. So, this Campaign is very important for study, because the real motive and aims of the Campaign reflected with the differences and the contradictions in the Safavids historians works. Hence, the main question is that : What were the motive and the aims of this Campaign, in the eyes of the Safavids historians ? In this direction, these historians are divided- according to their writings- in tow groups: The first group of historians believe that the aims of this Campaign was the suppression of the Mohammad-Baber who-according to them-was planning to rebel. But, the second group- without any refer to Baber's rebellion- believes that the aims of this Campaign was the suppression of the Uzbeks that endangered the Eastern region of Iran. So, this research show that the view of the second group is closer to the aims of this Campaign : the suppression of the Uzbeks.
