Abstract

A quantitative criterion for predicting the occurrence of supersaturation during the simultaneous countercurrent absorption and desorption of two gases was derived by means of penetration theory. Supersaturation may be followed by bubble nucleation and thus can result in an enhanced mass transfer rate.
