Abstract

Abstract-This paper comes with a new study on the conception of a CPW-Fed multi bands planar antenna. The design takes into account that this structure can be integrated with circuits behind, that why the Fed is a CPW one. The antenna validated is suitable for GSM, DCS and ISM band. The entire area of the antenna is 36x72.5 m m2 and it is printed on an FR4 substrate. The printed V-shaped antenna is formed from two horizontal arms of different lengths and an L-shaped shorted strip which is connected between the vertical arm and the ground plane. The antenna is designed, optimized, and miniaturized by using ADS Advanced Design System and the results are compared with CST Microwave Studio. INTRODUCTION With the development of the modern wireless communications, such as global system for mobile communication (GSM), digital cellular system (DCS) and industrial scientific and medical (ISM), there is an increasing requirement for antennas having low profile, small size and multi-bands. The antennas having small size are required for mobile phone applications and wireless integrated systems. For such applications, coplanar waveguide CPW-fed planar structures have many attractive features, such as having a single metallic layer for the feed network and the antenna element and easy integration with passive and active elements [1]. Recently a number of different antenna configurations have been reported, including the U-shaped monopole copper plate antenna [2-7], tuning stub [8-11]. In this paper, a novel design of a CPW-fed antenna with Multi frequency bands suitable for multi-band GSM (0.880-0.960 GHz), DCS (1.71 0-l.880 GHz) and ISM (2.4 a 2.483 GHz) is presented. II. MICROS TRIP PATCH ANTENNAS Microstrip antennas the most common of which is the Microstrip patch antenna. A patch antenna is a Morocco narrowband, wide-beam antenna fabricated by etching the antenna element pattern in metal trace bonded to an insulating dielectric substrate, such as a printed circuit board, with a continuous metal layer bonded to the opposite side of the substrate which forms a ground plane. Common Microstrip antenna shapes are square, rectangular, circular and elliptical, but any continuous shape is possible. Because such antennas have a very low profile, are mechanically rugged and can be shaped to conform to the curving skin of a vehicle, they are often mounted on the exterior of aircraft and spacecraft, or are incorporated into mobile radio communications devices.
