Abstract

Mathematics journal literature is among the most expensive and voluminous in all the sciences. This paper examines past and present pricing trends for over 75 English language mathematics research journals, which are categorized according to publisher types and inclusion in core bibliographies. The intent is, first, to reveal the cost patterns of individual titles; second, to form a model showing differential costs by publisher types; and, third, to chart the costs of core titles in an effort to answer the question, "how much does it cost to support a research level mathematics collection?"
