Abstract
In .the classical overdamped sine-Gordon system, the steady phase current has been estimated by two different methods. One is Biittiker and Landauer's approach. The other is the Hartree-like approximation for the Fokker-Planck equation. In the limit of the small driving field and low temperatures, there is a discrepancy between them. We estimate a correction to the Hartree-like approximation, applying the steepest descent method which has been developed in the numerical calculation, to the analytic procedure. It is found that the system is marginal for the Hartree-like approximation to work.
